TPP-1
Temperature Pocket (Thermowell) with Process Fitting
316 Stainless Steel temperature pocket (Thermowell) for use with an insertion temperature sensor with process fitting and a stem diameter of 6mm Ø.
Temperature Pocket TPP-1 Introduction
The temperature pocket model TPP-1 is a 316 stainless steel temperature pocket, designed to accommodate an insertion temperature sensor with process fitting, measuring 6mm in diameter.
Manufactured in all-welded stainless steel to Food Grade standards, the TPP-1 temperature pocket has a 3/4" BSP process thread, allowing it to be screwed into a socket and held in place. A temperature sensor with a 6mm Ø and a 1/2" BSP process fitting can then be screwed into the temperature pocket and secured in place.
The TPP-1 temperature pocket is designed specifically for temperature sensors with a process fitting such as the TPA-1-N, TPA-1-A and the TPA-3 which are manufactured with a process fitting.
Temperature Pocket TPP-1 Installation
The TPP-1 temperature pocket is designed to be screwed into a process which can either be an inline or pipework installation, or alternatively into a welded boss on a tank or other process vessel.
The standard fitting is a 3/4" BSP male thread. We can offer alternative sizes if required.
The insertion length of the TPP-1 is 150mm and can be manufactured shorter / longer, as required.
The temperature pocket is designed to accommodate a temperature sensor with a 6mm Ø stem and a male process fitting with a 1/2" BSP thread. The temperature sensor simply slides into the TPP-1 assembly, then screws into the female socket so that it can be held into place.
It's important to ensure that the length of the temperature sensor is suitable for the length of the TPP-1 temperature pocket, by ensuring the insertion length is the same or slightly shorter.
When installing the temperature pocket into a process we recommend that the minimum and maximum temperatures of the process are between - 50°C and + 250°C which is inline with the maximum and minimum temperature ratings for our temperature sensors.
Temperature Pocket TPP-1 Features & Benefits
Using a temperature pocket on a process is a great advantage for temperature measurement in industrial processes. The threaded boss is designed to accept a 3/4" BSP threaded connection and can often be specified when commissioning tanks or pipework, or installed into existing equipment during scheduled or period shut down. With a threaded boss in place, a temperature pocket can be permanently installed and the temperature sensor can be easily removed for periodic maintenance, commissioning or calibration, without having to stop the process.
With the TPP-1, the compression fitting is designed to hold a PT100 or PT1000 BS1904 standard temperature sensor, ensuring the process solutions temperature can be precisely monitored or controlled.
Manufactured in 316 stainless steel, the TPP-1 temperature pocket offers both excellent thermal conductivity properties and the all-welded construction makes it suitable for Food Grade applications.
With a compression fitting securing the temperature sensor in place, the insertion length of the sensor can be manually adjusted to ensure that the sensor is placed at the tip of the temperature pocket.
