HY-BC
Small Pulse Proportional Dosing Pump
The HY-BC is a small reliable chemical dosing pump which is designed to meter chemical into a process proportional to a pulsed input signal.
HY-BC Proportional Dosing Pump Introduction
The HY-BC is a small solenoid dosing pump designed as a reliable yet cost effective solution for metering chemical reagents into a process proportional to a pulsed input signal. For the HY-BC, the signal is most commonly supplied from a water meter.
Designed primarily for applications where space it as a premium, the HY-BC can be surface mounted or foot mounted using the optional foot mounting bracket. The HY-BC is able to dose either manually or proportionally. In manual mode, the output is selected from 0 - 100% of the rated output.
Alternatively the HY-BC is able to dose proportionally to a pulsed input signal which can be supplied either from a water meter, or from a PFM relay output from a compatible instrument, such as the P7687, P6587 or P7685 pH controller.
In addition to proportional control the HY-BC will take a volt free contact from a Low Level Float Switch to automatically stop the dosing pump and prevent it operating when no chemical is present.
The HY-BC is powered from a switch mode power supply, suitable for a mains supply of 100 - 240 VAC 50hz or 60Hz.
HY-BC Dosing Pump Outputs
The HY-BC dosing pump series are available with the following outputs:-
Model Number* | Output (Litres / Hour) | Pressure (Bar) | Speed (Strokes / Min) | Output (mls / stroke) | Hose Size (mm) | Power (Watts) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
HY-BC-12-1.5 | 0 - 1.5 | 12.0 | 160 | 0.10 | 4 x 6 | 15 |
HY-BC-09-03 | 0 - 3.0 | 9.0 | 160 | 0.32 | 4 x 6 | 15 |
HY-BC-06-06 | 0 - 6.0 | 6.0 | 160 | 0.94 | 4 x 6 | 15 |
HY-BC Proportional Dosing Method of Operation
The HY-BC is designed to for flow proportional dosing where the frequency or speed of the pump is automatically regulated in proportion to a pulsed volt free signal from a water meter or other piece of control equipment.
As the measured flow rate increases, the speed of the pump increases in proportion and as the flow rate decreases the speed of the pump also decreases proportionally.
When using a water meter, the signal receives a pulse which is determined by the K Factor of the water meter. This signal can be divided by the HY-BC to give greater control over the amount of chemical delivered. The HY-BC has the following settings for pulse division:-
Potentiometer Setting | Ratio | Pulses (from water-meter) | Strokes (from dosing pump) |
---|---|---|---|
100% | 4:1 | 4 | 1 |
50% | 8:1 | 8 | 1 |
10% | 40:1 | 40 | 1 |
The HY-BC is limited to pulse division only, unlike the AT2-AM which offers similar outputs and the ability to multiply or divide the pulsed input signal.
Using the mls per stroke and the strength of the chemical, the effective PPM of the dosed reagent can be calculated. This makes it ideal for flow proportional dosing of biocides and oxidising agents.
In addition to the flow proportional dosing, the HY-BC can be connected to a volt free signal which will automatically start / stop the pump. The volt free signal input can come from a Low Level Float Switch or a Suction Lance Assembly.
The HY-BC is designed to IP65 specification, making it suitable for indoor or outdoor operation and can be foot mounted or surface mounted to a flat vertical surface.
The HY-BC dosing pump is powered from a switch mode power supply, meaning that an AC supply voltage of 100 - 240 Volts at 50Hz / 60Hz can be used to power the pump.
HY-BC Wetted Parts / Liquid End
The HY-BC is designed as a chemical metering pump for industrial usage and as such has wetted parts developed specifically for chemical handling.
As standard the pump is manufactured with wetted parts in PVC, PTFE, and Ceramic. The seals and O-rings are available in either Viton (© DuPont / Chemours) or EPDM as requested at the time of purchasing.
Our chemical compatibility database can be used to check the wetted parts. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you are unsure.
What's in the box with the HY-BC?
The HY-BC is supplied complete with everything required to begin metering chemical reagents into a process.
Supplied with the dosing pump itself are:-
- Injection Valve with 3/8" and 1/2" BSP male threaded connections
- Footvalve & Strainer assembly
- 1 metre of discharge tubing
- 1 meter of suction tubing
- Surface mounting kit
An optional foot mounting bracket can be included, for no additional charge if requested.
HY-BC Features & Benefits
The HY-BC is a small reliable proportional control dosing pump, designed to deliver chemical reagents into a process, both accurately and proportional to a pulsed input. When operating in constant or manually adjustable dosing mode, the HY-BC can be switched on from the relay output of a piece of control equipment, enabling full automation of many small industrial processes.
Most commonly the HY-BC is paired with a water meter to provide flow proportional control of a process. Alternatively, the pulsed input signal can come from a piece of process equipment such as a pH controller.
Designed specifically for chemical metering, the HY-BC is fitted with wetted parts which are suitable for many chemical reagents, manufactured in PVC, PTFE, Ceramic with either Viton or EPDM seals and O-rings. Designed to IP65 specifications, the HY-BC is suitable for mounting outside.
The volt free input can be used with an optional Low Level Float Switch preventing the pump from operating when a low chemical level is present.
The HY-BC is available as the following model types:-
- HY-BC-12-15 for an output flow rate of 1.5 Litres / Hour at 12 Bar pressure
- HY-BC-03-09 for an output flow rate of 3.0 Litres / Hour at 9 Bar pressure
- HY-BC-06-06 for an output flow rate of 6.0 Litres / Hour at 6 Bar pressure
Tthe HY-BC series are powered from a switch mode power supply which is able to accept a mains supply of 100 - 240 VAC at 50Hz / 60Hz the HY-BC and is an ideal piece of process control equipment destined for export.
