HY-MA

Small Pulse Proportional Dosing Pump

Flow proportional dosing pump HY-MA which automatically adjusts the frequncy or speed proportional to a 4-20mA input signal.

The HY-MA is a small reliable chemical dosing pump which is designed to meter chemical into a process, proportional to a 4-20mA current input signal.

HY-MA Proportional Dosing Pump Introduction

The HY-MA is a small solenoid dosing pump designed as a reliable yet cost effective solution for metering chemical reagents into a process. The HY-MA will dose chemical proportional to a 4-20mA signal from a pH Controller, PLC or any other device with an expandable 4-20mA output.

Using an expandable 4-20mA signal from one of our proportional controllers such as the P7687, P6587 or P7685, means that the pump will increase in speed, the further the measured value gets from the desired set-point.  The process is able to be tightly controlled while reducing the amount of chemical reagent used.

In addition to operating from a 4-20mA signal, the HY-MA can operate in constant or manually adjustable dosing mode.  The output is selected from 0 - 100% of the rated output using the front mounted potentiometer.

The HY-MA is designed primarily for applications where space it as a premium and can be surface mounted or foot mounted using the optional foot mounting bracket.

In addition to proportional control, the HY-MA will take a volt free contact from a Low Level Float Switch to automatically stop the dosing pump and prevent it operating when no chemical is present.

The HY-MA is powered from a switch mode power supply, suitable for a mains supply of 100 - 240 VAC 50hz or 60Hz.

HY-MA Dosing Pump Outputs

The HY-MA dosing pump series are available with the following outputs:-

Model Number*Output (Litres / Hour)Pressure (Bar)Speed (Strokes / Min)Output (mls / stroke)Hose Size (mm)Power (Watts)
HY-MA-12-1.5 0 - 1.5 12.0 160 0.10 4 x 6 15
HY-MA-09-03 0 - 3.0 9.0 160 0.32 4 x 6 15
HY-MA-06-06 0 - 6.0 6.0 160 0.94 4 x 6 15

HY-MA Proportional Dosing - Method of Operation

The HY-MA is designed to dose proportional to a 4-20mA current input.  The speed or frequency of the pump is automatically regulated in proportion to the 4-20mA input signal which can be supplied from a piece of control equipment.

We recommend using a proportional instrument such as our P7687, P6587 or P7685, or a PLC where the 4-20mA can be scaled over a desired range.  This means that at a desired setpoint, the pump will stop dosing.  Set to 4mA, at a specified point, the pump will dose at 100% of it's rated output (20mA).

The HY-MA includes a signal trim control for proportional dosing.  At 20mA the pump will dose at the amount selected on the potentiometer, with a scale from 0 - 100% of the pumps rated output.

The speed or frequency of the pump is automatically regulated between 4mA and 20mA, allowing the pump to speed up and slow down automatically across this range.  This is designed to ensure precision control of processes and accurate reagent dosing.

The HY-MA is limited to trim control of the 20mA input signal to a value between 0 - 100% of the dosing pumps rated output.  Our AT2-MT which offers similar outputs includes the ability to scale, invert and expand a 4-20mA signal for use with instruments which have a fixed 4-20mA output.

In addition to the flow proportional dosing, the HY-MA can be connected to a volt free signal which will automatically start / stop the pump.  The volt free signal input can come from a low level float switch or a Suction Lance Assembly.

The HY-MA is designed to IP65 specification, making it suitable for indoor or outdoor operation and can be foot mounted or surface mounted to a flat vertical surface.

HY-MA Wetted Parts / Liquid End

The HY-MA is designed as a chemical metering pump for industrial usage and as such has wetted parts developed specifically for chemical handling.

  • Head Material

The wetted parts of the pump head are manufactured in PVC.

  • Double ball valves

Double union ball valves are manufactured in PVC with Ceramic balls

  • Diaphragm

The diaphragm is manufactured in PTFE.

  • Injection Valve

The injection valves are manufactured in PVC.

  • Foot Valve & Strainer Valve

The foot valve and strainer assembly is manufactured in PVC.

  • Seals & O-Rings

The seals and O-Rings are manufactured in Viton or EPDM.

As standard the pump is manufactured with wetted parts in PVC, PTFE, and Ceramic.  The seals and O-rings are available in either Viton (© DuPont / Chemours) or EPDM as requested at the time of purchasing.

Our chemical compatibility database can be used to check the wetted parts.  Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you are unsure.

Supplied with the dosing pump itself are:-

  • Injection Valve with 3/8" and 1/2" BSP male threaded connections
  • Footvalve & Strainer assembly
  • 1 metre of discharge tubing
  • 1 meter of suction tubing
  • Surface mounting kit.

An optional foot mounting bracket can be included for no additional charge, if requested.

HY-MA Features & Benefits

The HY-MA is a small reliable proportional control dosing pump, designed to deliver chemical reagents into a process, both accurately and proportional to a 4-20mA input signal.

The HY-MA is designed to be paired with a control device that uses a programmable or expandable 4-20mA current signal, such as an instrument like a pH Controller, PLC or other device.

The maximum output of the HY-MA as it corresponds to a 20mA signal can be set using the front mounted potentiometer, to give the operator additional control / fine tuning of the pumps dosing rate, when acting as a proportional dosing pump.

Designed specifically for chemical metering the HY-MA is fitted with wetted parts suitable for many chemical reagents, with wetted parts in PVC, PTFE, Ceramic and either Viton or EPDM seals and O-rings.  Designed to IP65 specifications, the HY-MA is suitable for mounting outside.

The volt free input can be used with an optional low level float switch to prevent the pump from operating when a low chemical level is present.

The HY-MA is available as the following model types:-

  • HY-MA-12-15 for an output flow rate of 1.5 Litres / Hour at 12 Bar pressure
  • HY-MA-03-09 for an output flow rate of 3.0 Litres / Hour at 9 Bar pressure
  • HY-MA-06-06 for an output flow rate of 6.0 Litres / Hour at 6 Bar pressure

As the HY-MA series are powered from a switch mode power supply which can accept a mains supply of 100 - 240 VAC at 50Hz / 60Hz the HY-MA, it is an ideal piece of process control equipment destined for export.
