Geared Mixer

To compliment our range of direct drive high speed industrial mixers we offer a geared mixer range which provides high torque slow speed stirring for water treatment, effluent treatment and industrial processes.

The geared mixer range is designed to produce a slow and even mix into solutions and processes which are not suitable for a high speed mixer. This makes them ideal for mixing water treatment chemicals where a low shear ratio is desirable, such as mixers for flocculant and mixers for polymers.

The geared mixer range is also suitable for operation in small dosing tanks as well as large vessels - with a motor range from just 0.09kW right through to 3.0kW with single phase 110 V, single phase 240 V AC and 415 V AC three phase motors available in models throughout the range.

In addition to the standard motors - we can offer geared mixers for hazardous areas with flameproof EX-D motors or mixers with air motors.

Utilising a TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) motor and a worm gearbox, we are able to offer a range of impeller output speeds from 70 RPM, 95 RPM, 140 RPM, 190 RPM and 280 RPM depending upon the application requirements. The gearbox is mounted at 90° to the shaft which enables us to have a low installation height where the ceiling height is restrictive. This particularly useful where a geared mixer is required for a very large chemical storage vessel or process vessel.

In addition to reliability and torque output, our 90° angled worm gearboxes provide a secondary benefit in that the mixer operation is very quiet. When fitted with a single phase motor our geared mixers are significantly quieter.

Polymer Mixer and Flocculant Mixer 

Our geared mixer range are designed for polymer mixing and flocculant mixing. They are suitable as a mixer for the preparation of flocculant and polymer or where a flocculant or polymer is used in effluent treatment.

Fitted with a reduction ratio gearbox the flocculant mixers have a low shear co-efficient and the flat bladed impeller ensures that a slow and even mix is achievable without compromising effective surface area of the fluctuant.

Our polymer mixer range have been designed for use both during the flocculant make up stage and during the process stage where gains in fluctuant contact time and efficiency can be achieved.

Geared Mixer for Viscous Solutions.

For processes which require a geared mixer for viscous solutions we have a number of options available within our geared mixer range.

As all of our mixers are manufactured in our Stafford facility in the UK, we take a number of considerations into account when supply a geared mixer for viscous solutions, and are able to offer over-size motors as well as impeller sizes to suit solutions with a viscosity up to ~ 10'000 CPS.

We're also able to increase the number impellers located on the shaft of our mixers to accommodate requirements where viscous solutions are mixed.

Geared Mixer for Lime Solution

For pH neutralisation some customers like to use a lime solution due to the low cost of the chemical and the strong alkaline properties. In these applications keep the solids in suspension is paramount - as the settled lime will literally go rock hard if it drops out.

There are a number of ways of keeping the lime solution in suspension and one of the most cost effective is to fit a small geared mixer to an IBC or dosing tank to prevent the lime from settling. Our range of geared mixers are suitable as lime mixers and can be run continually to ensure that lime settlement is avoided.

Chemically Resistant Geared Mixer

In addition to mixing lime to keep the solids in suspension - our GMW range of geared mixers are available with a PVC coating to ensure that they are suitable for use in chemical processes that react with Stainless Steel.

The PVC coating covers the wetted parts of the mixer including the shaft and impeller giving them a resistant barrier to a number of industrial chemicals. When considering a chemically resistant geared mixer we strongly recommend checking that the chemical is compatible with PVC and if you're unsure - please don't hesitate to get in touch with us.

In addition to our PVC coated geared mixers - we offer a chemically resistant small mixer the AML-9 which is manufactured with a PVC impeller and a PVC coated shaft and is designed to fit on top of small dosing tanks.

The AML-9 is a small chemically resistant geared mixer designed to be mounted onto dosing tanks up to 250 litres in capacity to provide continual agitation of the solution. 

Manufactured with an 8 inch PVC impeller and a 316 stainless steel PVC coated shaft. Unlike our GMW range of geared mixers the AML-9 is only available with a shaft length of 600mm, 800mm, 900mm or 1100mm. 

The AML-9 is fitted with a 0.12kW 230 V single phase AC Motor and has an output speed of 70 RPM.

AML-9 Chemically Resistant Geared Mixer Introduction

The AML-9 is an industrial geared mixer with an 8 inch impeller, designed for use in chemical containers of up to approximately 300 litres in capacity, such as our DT300, for slow speed stirring and agitation.  The geared mixer is designed for agitation and stirring applications in process control, water treatment and effluent treatment, including the makeup of pH neutralisation and effluent treatment chemicals, such as a flocculent mixer or a polymer mixer.


AML-9 Chemically Resistant Geared Mixer Introduction

The AML-9 is a geared industrial mixer, designed to offer low cost chemical mixing and slow speed stirring in small dosing tanks, from a range of 100L to 300L capacity.

Unlike our GMW range of Industrial Geared Mixers, the AML-9 has an 8 inch or 200mm flat bladed dual style impeller, manufactured in 316 stainless steel and covered in PVC to offer greater chemical resistance.

Powered by a 0.12kW 230v single phase AC motor, the AML-9 delivers an output impeller speed of 200 RPM as standard and is also available with a higher ratio gearbox to offer an output of 70 RPM.  The model AML-9 is suitable for most light industrial slow speed stirring or agitation tasks, including keeping lime in suspension or continual agitation for pH neutralisation and other tasks.


AML-9 Geared PVC Mixer Installation

Unlike our other mixers the AML-9 has fixed shaft lengths and is only available with either a 600mm, 800mm, 900mm, or 1100mm long shaft.

The mixer should be mounted onto a mixer bridge, or tank strengthening plate.  Please consider any additional height these might add when considering the shaft length.

The AML-9 utilises a dual pronged flat bladed impeller with a 200mm diameter.  The impeller is designed to provide constant agitation of liquids and semi-viscous liquids.


AML-9 High Speed PVC Mixer with 0.12kW Single Phase Motor

The AML-9 is fitted with TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) direct drive motor and manufactured to IP55 specifications.  The standard motor is a 240 V single phase motor.  We also offer a 3 phase 415 VAC motor option for this mixer.

GMW0-SP2 Geared Mixer Introduction

The GMW0-SP2 is an industrial geared mixer with a 6 inch impeller, designed for slow speed stirring and agitation.  The geared mixer is designed for agitation and stirring applications in process control, water treatment and effluent treatment.  The GMW0-SP2 operates well under conditions required for the makeup of pH neutralisation and effluent treatment chemicals, such as a flocculent mixer or polymer mixer.  It is also a suitable mixer for keeping lime in suspension for pH correction applications.

The GMW0-SP2 is the smallest of our geared mixers and fitted as standard with a 3 phase 240V 0.18kW AC motor, driving a reduction ratio worm gearbox with a 6 inch / 250mm impeller.

The standard impeller has a low shear co-efficient and is driven with a speed of 140RPM, making it ideal for use on smaller dosing tanks up to approximately 300 litre dosing tanks when used with low viscosity liquids.


GMW0-SP2 Geared Mixer with 6 inch Impeller

The GMW0-SP2 utilises a 6 inch impeller which is used to create a continuous stirring motion within the tank or vessel.  This ensures that the solution is under constant agitation from the industrial stirrer; improving the contact time and reaction potential when used for the agitation of reagent; mixing polymers or the make-up of effluent treatment chemicals.

The 6 inch impeller is not tapered to ensure the industrial stirrer generates a large contact area, thus providing both a better contact area for more efficient stirring and reduces the shearing coefficient when used as a flocculant mixer.


GMW0-SP2 Worm Gearbox Mixer

The 6 inch propeller is directly driven to the worm gear box.  The shaft is machined at our production facility in the Stafford, UK.  The shaft is held securely in place within the worm gearbox itself without a coupling.  This enables us to offer a wide variety of reduction ratios including 70 RPM, 95 RPM and 140 RPM.

In addition to offering a number of gearbox ratio options we machine the shafts and impellers in-house, allowing the shaft length to be manufactured to specification.

Our 3 blade flat 6 inch impeller is designed to optimise the stirring capability of the mixer for a number of different applications.  Therefore, the GMW0-SP2 is suitable for use as a geared mixer for viscous solutions as well as for flocculent or polymer makeup.


GMW0-SP2 Geared Mixer with 0.18kW 3 Phase Motor

The standard GMW0-SP2 is fitted with a TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled)  motor and manufactured to IP55 specifications.  The standard motor is a 240 V three phase 0.18kW AC.  We also offer a 380 Volt motor, flame proof motor and 240 VAC Single phase motor.


GMW0-SP2 Chemically Resistant Geared Mixer

For use with process chemicals, we offer the GMW0-SP2 with the wetted parts (shaft and 250mm impeller) coated in PVC.  This makes the mixer suitable for mixing applications where the process chemical reacts with 316 stainless steel.

The shaft and 6" impeller are coated as a single piece which ensures that any fastenings are resistant to the reagents being used in the process.

We strongly recommend when considering a chemically resistant high speed mixer, that the materials being used are compatible with PVC. 


GMW0-SP2 Geared Mixer Features & Benefits

The GMW0-SP2 is a geared mixer, suitable for a wide variety of applications and unlike our High speed Industrial Mixers it doesn't have to be contained with a tank where the height of the liquid covers the impeller.

Designed for light and medium industrial duties the GMW0-SP2 has been used as an industrial stirrer for keeping lime solutions in suspension as well as a geared mixer for flocculant make up, pH neutralisation or other process control applications.

Manufactured in house at our Stafford facility, the GMW0-SP2 is available with a number of customisation options, depending upon the duty required.  We have fitted the geared mixer with a Food Grade lubricant, 240 VAC single phase motor, 3 phase 380 VAC motor, flame proof motor, or with chemically resistant coating.

The GMW0-SP2 is not suitable for fitting with a secondary impeller, instead we would suggest the GMW1 or GMW11 for consideration, but if you require or are considering any other specific customisation for use with your process, please get in touch.

The GMW1 is an industrial geared mixer with a 10 inch impeller, designed for slow speed stirring and agitation.  The geared mixer is designed for agitation and stirring applications in process control, water treatment and effluent treatment, including the makeup of pH neutralisation and effluent treatment chemicals, such as a flocculent mixer or polymer mixer, as well as a mixer for keeping lime in suspension for pH correction applications.

The GMW1 is fitted as standard with a 3 phase 415V 0.25kW AC motor.  We do offer single phase versions of the GMW-1 including the GMW1-SP2 fitted with a 240 V single phase 0.25kV AC motor and the GMW1-SP1 which is fitted with a 110 V single phase 0.25kV AC motor. Each of the single phase versions drive a reduction ratio worm gearbox to run the 250mm impeller (10 inch impeller).

The standard impeller has a low shear co-efficient and is driven with a speed of 140RPM, with other output speeds available, making it ideal for use on a range of dosing tanks depending upon the duty, liquid type and viscosity.

GMW1 Worm Gearbox Mixer 

The 10 inch propellor is directly driven to the worm gearbox.  The shaft is machined at our production facility in the Stafford, UK to ensure that it is held securely in place within the worm gearbox itself, without a coupling.  This enables us to offer a wide variety of reduction ratios including 70 RPM, 95RPM and 140 RPM.

In addition to offering a number of gearbox ratio options we machine the shafts and impellers in house, allowing the shaft length to be manufactured to specification.

Our 3 blade flat 10 inch impeller is designed to optimise the stirring capability of the mixer for a number of different applications.  This makes the GMW1 suitable for use as a geared mixer for viscous solutions as well as a geared mixer for flocculent or polymer makeup.


Geared Mixer GMW1 with 0.25kW 3 Phase Motor

The standard GMW1 is fitted with a TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled)  motor and manufactured to IP55 specifications.  The standard motor is a 415 V three phase 0.25kW AC motor.  We also offer a 380 Volt motor, flame proof motor, 110 VAC single phase motor or 240 VAC Single phase motor.


GMW1 Chemically Resistant Geared Mixer

For use with process chemicals, we offer the GMW1 with the wetted parts (shaft and 250mm impeller) coated in PVC.  This makes the mixer suitable for mixing applications where the chemical to be coated reacts with 316 stainless steel.

The shaft and 10" impeller are coated as a single piece which ensures that any fastenings are resistant to the reagents being used in the process.

We strongly recommend when considering a chemically resistant high speed mixer that the materials being used are compatible with PVC.

Manufactured in house at our Stafford facility, the GMW1 is available with a number of customisation options, depending upon the duty required.  As well as the 110 VAC and 240 VAC SP1 and SP2 versions, we offer the GMW1 with variations such as an additional impeller, Food Grade lubricant, 3 phase 380 VAC motor, flame proof motor, or with chemically resistant coating.

GMW1-SP2 Geared Mixer Introduction

The GMW1-SP2 is an industrial geared mixer with a 10 inch impeller, designed for slow speed stirring and agitation.  The geared mixer is designed for agitation and stirring applications in process control, water treatment and effluent treatment where a 3 phase supply is not present.

The GMW1-SP2 is ideal for the makeup of pH neutralisation and effluent treatment chemicals such as a flocculent mixer or polymer mixer, as well as a mixer for keeping lime in suspension for pH correction applications.

The GMW1-SP2 is fitted as standard with a single phase 240v 0.25kW AC motor.  We do offer a three phase 415V three phase versions of the GMW1-SP2 which is the GMW1 fitted with a 415v three phase 0.25kV AC motor and we also offer a 110 volt single phase version with 0.25kW motor the GMW1-SP1.

All of the GMW1 slow speed stirrers utilise a reduction ratio worm gearbox to drive a 250mm impeller (10 inch impeller).

The standard impeller has a low shear co-efficient and is driven with a speed of 140RPM, with other output speeds available, making it ideal for use on a range of Dosing Tanks, depending upon the duty, liquid type and viscosity.
